1973 Rickenbacker 4001 in its original Fireglo finish with checkerboard binding, "toaster" pickup, wavey Grover tuning keys and a plexi truss rod cover. It has a great playing neck with good frets. It's all original with the exception of the knobs, the pickguard, one capacitor and a couple of wires. The replacement pickguard is a period correct Rickenbacker part. A later Rickenbacker hardshell case is included. This bass looks great with some nicks + dings, light belt buckle wear and other cosmetic wear. The thin walnut center piece that runs the full length of the bass has a few areas that have developed cracks that are visible on both sides. Wood cracks like these typically occur when wood experiences rapid temperature change (equilibrium). They remain a cosmetic issue as the bass itself remains structurally sound. You will notice in the photos of the neck position pickup cavitiy that there is strange routing and drilling with an unknown purpose. All electronics work and sound great with its original "toaster" pickup. We are happy to ship internationally.
