1953 Gibson Les Paul Standard GOLDTOP w/WRAP AROUND tailpiece HANG TAG

1953 Gibson Les Paul Standard GOLDTOP in its original finish. It has a good playing neck, but the action is a bit high as this is one of the early Les Pauls with a more shallow neck angle. The frets are in great shape as it has been professionally refretted. It's all original with the exception of the frets, and is 100% complete including its original hardshell case and original HANG TAG! The weight is 8 lbs. 4 oz. It's in EXCELLENT condition with only some very minor nicks + dings, very little extremely minor finish checking, and other very minor cosmetic wear. The nut was removed and reglued at some point in time. The guitar itself remains structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs other than one tiny hairline crack in the top between the treble side tailpiece anchor and the bridge position pickup cavity. These original early tailpiece studs were made with much smaller spacing than the later studs, and these early original wrap around tailpieces were also more narrow. Gibson would often resize the bottom surface of the tailpiece until it fit perfectly on the studs. It appears the solder was redone on one of the volume pots. All electronics work and sound AMAZING as it provides an authentic early '50's Les Paul tone
